Clemson Loses Veteran Pitcher

CLEMSON — Clemson will be without one of its best pitchers for the remainder of the season.

Clemson head coach Erik Bakich announced on Sunday the 15th-ranked Tigers will be without pitcher Jacob McGovern for the rest of the season with an elbow injury. He said surgery is set for later this week.

A lefty from nearby Seneca (S.C) High School, McGovern came on late in the 2024 season to become a valuable pitcher out of the bullpen for the Tigers. He was one of the team’s most effective relievers in 2025, as well.

The Tigers, who beat Bryant on Sunday to improve to 7-0 on the young season, were counting on McGovern to be someone they could count on coming out of the bullpen.
