Report: NFL considers centralizing instant replays

Related Topics: National Football League

The days of National Football League referees spending five minutes under a giant hood watching endless replays of controversial moments may be coming to an end.

NFL.com's Judy Battista reports that the league is considering centralizing all replays through one office, similar to what Major League Baseball and the National Hockey League do.

Among the biggest reasons why, Battista reported, is an acknowledgement by league officials that replay reviews are taking too long:

League officials have become disenchanted with referees going under a hood to review replays on the sideline and there is a push to limit the number and length of interruptions to games.
